The May Project.
About.
Dream-pop act The May Project is the musical branch of Auckland-based multidisciplinary artist Katie Brown, who is also at the helm of clothing label Etta Every.
Ethereal, layered vocals with intricate harmonies (inspired by Katie's background in choral and classical music) floating on a bed of layered, percussive and textural synths, guitars and beats form the backbone of The May Project's sound.
Katie currently produces and mixes her own work.
To date, The May Project has been steadily releasing tracks in conjunction with collections by Etta Every since 2014. The releases have been regularly playlisted on various student stations across New Zealand.

BONES
I, I will bend limb for you / Twist my form, contort / Make the natural unnatural
If that is what you want / But see these bones are not safe / Brittle, and you’ll hear them break
As I bend towards you
-
Hide my colours just to see / If this new outline / Is more pleasing than the old one
But these shades of black and white / Are not the same, they’ll steal my song / And slowly kill my soul
As I bend towards you
-
Too late to give, you were indifferent / I lost my will to be your shadow
Too late tonight, this love has lifted / And I won’t bend towards you
Living Room Sessions.
A series of lo-fi living room recordings
HIGH TREASON
Come closer, I see you / Caught in your smile
This feeling, high treason, oh / The undertow
Feel you press your hands into my heart / You're drawing out the poison left behind
As you whisper to me in these deepest watches / Of the lonely, stirring night
You're not alone / You're not alone
-
Frozen in your headlights / I've lost control
Collision incited by / Two reckless souls
Feel you press your hands into my heart / You're drawing out the poison left behind
As you whisper to me in these deepest watches / Of the lonely, stirring night
You're not alone / You're not alone

CLOCKWORK
Oh, but I cannot hear the answer
One day closer to the end
Free in a circle trapped forever
You’ll forget about me now
-
Oh, but I cannot hear the answer
It’s so easy not to try
Couldn’t have fallen any lower
You’ll forget about me now
